Anyone else find it was just yesterday that we were talking about the end of Ottawa Bluesfest 2023? Where did the year go? It’s also been 10 years now since I’ve been covering this event so huge kudos to Joe, AJ, Mark and the entire team behind the scenes for inviting us out every year and giving us the opportunity to showcase this world class event.
Music and Media communities come together in support of Sean Sisk
Music and media go hand in hand. The talented ones make and perform the music while us media folks cover the music and use photos taken by our photographers and videographers to showcase it…well earlier this summer one of Ottawa’s favourite photographers, Sean Sisk, suddenly took ill right at the start of RBC Bluesfest. Since then he’s been in an Ottawa hospital ICU unable to work and unable to earn a living. Although his condition is improving daily his recovery is going to take time so it could be a while before Sean is fully recovered and able to earn a living again. Last night music and media once again joined forces at the Overflow Brewing Company, this time to shine a spotlight on one of our own and to remind us all of how fragile our lives can be.

Jessica Lavallee showcases her East Coast roots in Small Town Girl
“I stared this song one time after leaving home one late summer from a visit with my family. I was so sad to leave and always felt home sick till the next year. With the help of my dad and, good friend, Carmen M. Bennett, we finished the song and could not be prouder of it! I am a proud Coaster and love where I come from. To speak about that in a song seems only natural and pure. I’m still that small town girl, proud of my small town world!!!!”
