Anticipation ran high in Canada’s Capital since it was announced that the best selling solo artist in US history, Garth Brooks, would be making his return to the city for the first time in 19 years this past January. The wait came to an end on Friday as thousands of fans descended on the Canadian Tire Centre for the first of 4 shows.

Country music fans in Halifax came together at the Scotiabank Centre to see Fan Favorite Johnny Reid. I left plenty early to get parking but as approached the downtown core area I came face on with traffic backed with fans going to the show.

The, “Lights on the Horizon” tour, rolled into a rainy Thursday night in London, Ontario, on March 24th. Budweiser Gardens would be the host for this highly anticipated tour, co-headlined by Metric and Death Cab for Cutie. Never having seen either band before, I was excitedly anticipating the night ahead.

So this past weekend Garth Brooks rolled into Hamilton, Ontario, Canada after 19 loooong years. Last time Garth was in town the venue, now FirstOntario Centre, was called Copps Coliseum and I was in my early 20’s. Garth returned not for one sold out show, but FIVE. I don’t think there is another artist alive that could sell out five shows in four nights in this market.

I was intrigued to see why a tribute show would be playing such a large venue. Let me tell you, I can totally understand, now, after seeing this show.
