Grand prize includes $25,000, a performance at Country Music Week 2019 and more

Canadian Music Week is pleased to announce Gord Downie as the 2019 recipient of the Allan Slaight Humanitarian Spirit Award. Outside of his career as a musician, poet and front-man for The Tragically Hip, Gordcommitted his time to causes close to his heart. He dedicated the last few years of his life educating the country on its past, moving toward reconciliation, and also spent many years working with the Lake Ontario Waterkeepers among other organizations. Alongside his brothers in The Hip, Gord and the band supported their hometown community of Kingston during their career, giving back to local organizations with proceeds from their Kingston shows.

Today Live Nation revealed their fifth annual National Concert Week will take place from May 1^st through May 7^th and give fans the exclusive opportunity to purchases tickets for just $20 (all-in including fees). Kicking off an epic summer concert season, the offer will include over two million tickets to 2,800+ in-demand shows from Live Nation’s upcoming roster of tours across North America. The Montebello Rock team is happy to unveil the bands that will be providing the soundtrack to the Montebello rock party experience this year!  As promised, this first back to the roots edition will be reminiscent of the early years and will present 30 punk, metal and hardcore bands on June 14-15.

2019 Country Music Association of Ontario nominee & 2018 Country Wild Emerging Artist Finalist Mackenzie Leigh Meyer joins the lineup for the 2019 Country Wild VIP kick-off party!

Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival, running June 20th to 23rd, is proud to announce the 2019 lineup presented by the Rideau Carleton Casino. Headliners for the four-day festival are Half Moon Run (20th), Alan Doyle (21st), Jess Moskaluke (22nd), and USS (23rd).

Once a year Jason Blaine gathers up a few of his closest friends in the country music industry, throws them on a bus and hauls them to Pembroke, Ontario for a couple of days of golf and music all in the name of charity. Everyone from Tim Hicks to Dean Brody has taken part in this amazing event which raises thousands of dollars for the community each year.

Canadian Music Week (CMW), presented by Amsterdam Brewery, now in its 37^thyear, is Canada’s longest running, largest showcase and conference festival. Taking place May 6-12 across downtown Toronto, the venue centric festival will host both local and international acts over the week kicking off with 70’s rock band Television at The Phoenix. In addition festival event favourites return with the iHeartRadio Fan Fest featuring Marshmello and Neon Dreams (May 8), and The Indies presented by Indie 88 and Jim Beam featuring the Born Ruffians, LA FORCE and The Elwins (May 11). Previously announced acts include The Dandy Warhols, Tokyo Police Club, Azealia Banks, Black Mountain, The King Khan and BBQ Show, The Dirty Nil, Sunflower Bean and more.
