New York, NY (April 2, 2020) – As the live performance sector struggles to find its footing in the face of COVID-19, Side Door is increasing its ongoing commitment to serve artists by creating shows anytime, anywhere. with the platform now including ticketed live-streamed shows. Unlike many live streams being hosted online during the pandemic, Side Door shows are bucking the trend of free performances in favor of setting up private, ticketed streaming events as a means to generate revenue for artists. They are also waiving any commission fees for the month of April, ensuring all ticket sales go directly back to the performers.

Ottawa (Monday, April 6, 2020) – Subsequent to this morning’s release announcing continued exploration of our options with respect to Jazz 2020, The City of Ottawa just announced that it is extending “its closures of City facilities, services, and public gatherings until June 30th.” – CTV.ca. The ordinance forbids gatherings in groups until further notice. Given this new reality along with the cancellations of our many presenting partners, the Ottawa Jazz Festival has no choice but to cancel this year’s edition. Obviously, we deliver this news with a very heavy heart.

It’s an uncertain time for all of us but musicians, for the first time in a long time, are unable to make a living. With venues across the globe closed and their fans sequestered to their homes a new era of live music is dawning. Musicians around the world are taking to the internet and sharing their music live online via live streaming platforms.
