This past Monday night we were in Markham taking in one of Canada’s most celebrated Country Music nights. The 3rd annual CMAO Awards took place in Markham, Ontario. For those of you who haven’t been lucky enough to secure tickets to this outstanding event I would have to suggest buy early next year. This year’s line up was over the top with the likes of Tim Hicks, Autumn Hill, Deric Ruttan, Small Town Pistols and Jason Blaine to name a few.

Ottawa’s own A Tribe Called Red is back and ready for action! This week, the Juno Award-winning, Polaris Music Prize nominated group dropped their new EP, Suplex (out on Pirates Blend in Canada, and internationally on the band’s own brand new label, Radicalized Records) – available now on iTunes. The four-song EP features the group’s signature unique style of traditional Pow Wow music mixed with club sound. With guest performances by Aboriginal hip-hop veteran, Hellnback, and past Tribe collaborators, Northern Voice, the EP also features a remix of the track Bodyslam by Calgary duo, Smalltown DJs. Tribe premiered the video for the title track today on FADER. The video follows the story of a Native youth, who after growing up with no role model of his own, becomes one when he turns into a wrestling champion.

Leading Canadian artists and performers have touted the Brockville Arts Centre as Canada’s foremost mid-sized historic theatre. The recent $2 million facelift, has raised the eyebrows of Canada’s musical elite with a sound system equivalent to Celine Dion’s Las Vegas system.
