On July 1st, approximately 25,000 thousands red and white clad partygoers could be found dancing the night away on Parliament Hill. Those brave souls who endured the very long security lines only to be dumped on by Mother Nature were rewarded by performances by some of the country’s leading artists.
The PepTides and Caravan Palace get the Ottawa Jazz Fest dancing.
The Ottawa weather hasn’t really been spoiling the Jazz Fest crowd this year, having had thunder, lightning and pouring rain almost every night, but even tonight some faithful festival goers brought out their lawn chairs and party hats and headed to the City Hall’s Tartan Home Stage and Confederation Park’s TekSavvy Main Stage for some live music.

Multiple hit maker Train made a scheduled stop at the newly named Budweiser Stage on June 21, 2017. A huge crowd filled the outdoor venue and went on an hour and 45-minute journey with conductor Pat Monahan at the helm.
Serena Ryder gives stellar performance at Ottawa Jazz Fest
I first discovered six time Juno Award winner Serena Ryder a couple of years ago when I heard a live concert broadcast on CBC radio. I liked it. She had a different sound than a lot of newer artists. When she was booked to play Kingston a short time after, I bought tickets to attend. I have been a Serena Ryder fan since that night. I was amazed by her powerful voice and her five-octave range. She did not disappoint on Friday night at Ottawa Jazz Festival. It was another stellar performance by the Millbrook, Ontario native.
