Kelowna based The Wild! are set to release their third album Still Believe In Rock And Roll later this week. The album is an evolution of their straight ahead, in your face rock they’ve become well known for. I sat down with Dylan Villain recently to talk about the project.

The Day the Music Died
Let’s talk about the last 24 hours for a minute. Yesterday morning I came to work, as I do every day. For the most part I was expecting a relatively normal day knowing that by the late afternoon our coverage of events at the JUNO Awards in Saskatoon would be needing my attention. But at 9:30am something happened that would lead to the largest cascading cancellation event I have ever experienced in all my years in this industry.
The Killers announce new album and world tour!
THE KILLERS are thrilled to share the details of their forthcoming, highly-anticipated sixth studio album, Imploding The Mirage, which is set for release on May 29, 2020 on Island Records. The album – produced by the band in conjunction with Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado of Foxygen – was recorded in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Park City, UT. It is the first Killers album to be written and recorded since leaving their hometown of Las Vegas, NV. Imploding The Mirage also features a brilliant array of collaborators, another first for the band who have typically kept guest spots on their albums to a minimum. The list of featured artists includes Lindsey Buckingham, kd lang, Weyes Blood, Adam Granduciel (War On Drugs), Blake Mills, and Lucius.

Swept Up in The Lumineers Melodic Storm
You know those drinks that everyone warns you about?
Come on, you know the kind! They got names like Corpse Reviver or Nuclear Grandma (this one may not actually be a drink but don’tcha think it should be?). They start off nice and silky smooth to the point where you think you’ve been had and then, whamo bamo slamo! Boom went the dynamite and you feel it from your pinky toe to your cerebral cortex. One second steady and the next you are knocked out of your pair of BOGO Payless. You don’t quite know where you were at, where you are now and where you are going but damn you just want to go. Damn, you just want some more.
A Lumineers concert is kinda’ like that only with less booze content( (debatable) and more whamo bamo slamo!
Ominus Spiritus in Gatineau
A nearly sold out crowd converged at the beautiful and welcoming Salle Odyssée in Gatineau this week to see eighties wild child Gowan in concert. It’s the second time the artist has hit the National Capital Region in the last year or so and his dedicated fans can’t seem to get enough of him – present company included.

Steve Hackett weaves wonderful music and story telling with stop in Edmonton
Steve Hackett brought a one two punch of classic British prog rock albums to Edmonton’s Winspear Centre recently. He is celebrating 40 years of Spectral Mornings and treating fans to a brilliant rendition of Selling England By The Pound, Genesis’ outbreak album of 1973. The acoustics of the Winspear Centre are perfectly suited for this show. I’d have to say its a far better fit than any other venue I can think of in Edmonton or western Canada.
