On Tuesday, July 23, Montrealer’s were transported back to the 1980s at the Totally Tubular Festival, held at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. The event featured an extraordinary lineup of iconic bands. Despite the short sets from the eight bands, the crowd sang along passionately to the hits, making it a fun and nostalgic experience.
Let’s TALK about day 8 at Ottawa Bluesfest
Initially July 12 was supposed to be an off day for me due to prior engagements but schedules changed and suddenly I found myself back at LeBreton Flatts for another night at Ottawa Bluesfest.
Country music takes over Ottawa Bluesfest, again, on Thursday
After a few years with only one or two country acts in the lineup country music has been featured very prominently for the 30th Anniversary year. Thursday night shifted the focus to indie Canadian country on the back stages while rock was alive and well on the main stage.
Beryl dampens the grounds but show goes on as Zac Brown Band returns to Ottawa Bluesfest
The remnants of Hurricane Beryl did a number of the grounds at Ottawa Bluesfest as it entered day 6 causing a slight delay in the venue opening. But mud and threats of more rain only had minor impacts on the crowd and did little to dampen spirits of festival goers in Canada’s capital.
Maroon 5, Carley Rae Jepson, Tyler Shaw and more deliver for biggest crowd yet at Ottawa Bluesfest Sunday
It was another hot one at LeBreton Flats in Ottawa on Sunday as this year’s largest crowd yet descended on Ottawa Bluesfest for a night featuring Tyler Shaw
A little bit of country and a lot of rock and roll define day 2 of Ottawa Bluesfest
Although a chance of thunderstorms threatened event goers all night on Friday any storms that popped up stayed far enough away from the festival grounds to prevent a repeat of opening night. A mix of country, blues and rock was on tap for festival goers on Friday night with Nickelback, Warren Zeiders and Noah Cyrus being three anticipated acts.
Wet start didn’t dampen spirits on night one of Ottawa Bluesfest’s 30th Anniversary Edition
Anyone else find it was just yesterday that we were talking about the end of Ottawa Bluesfest 2023? Where did the year go? It’s also been 10 years now since I’ve been covering this event so huge kudos to Joe, AJ, Mark and the entire team behind the scenes for inviting us out every year and giving us the opportunity to showcase this world class event.
Cage the Elephant Rocks the Stage
Before this show, I only knew Cage the Elephant for their song “Ain’t No Rest for the Wicked”. However, when I had to sign a waiver and attend a safety meeting with their Head of Security, I knew the show was going to be extraordinary. Cage the Elephant brought their electrifying energy to the stage on June 28th, and fans at Rogers Place were treated to a spectacular performance. Known for their raw and unfiltered sound, the band delivered a set with the entire crowd on their feet from start to finish. I was completely blown away and left that show being a huge fan of their music, stage presence, and true craftsmanship.
Stanley Cup Finals – Game 6
Edmonton has been waiting for the Stanley Cup to return to its proper home since 2006. Well, this may happen on Monday for Game 7. Still, adding to the excitement and energy of the thousands watching the game from Fan Park, Canadian rock band The Beaches, and DJ duo Loud Luxury performed for the eagerly awaiting fans. The Beaches brought their charm, energy, and enthusiasm to the stage. Loud Luxury had the entire Fan Park dancing and singing and their “Let’s Go Oilers!” chants never wavered. This was a day and (hockey game) to remember!
