First Year of The All Your Friends Festival Will Be Remembered For Centuries: Day 2 Review
Fishnets, ripped and cut up clothing, band t-shirts, and coloured hair as far as the eye could see – also in the mirror for this punk rock fan – and still living on the high from Billy Talent’s performance the night before, Day 2 of the All Your Friends Festival kicked off and we all could not wait for the line up that was performing that day.
Burl’s Creek’s Flags Waving Never Meant The Same After All Your Friends Festival Takeover: Day 1 Review
When All Your Friends Festival announced they would be putting on one of Canada’s largest Punk Festivals featuring some of Canada’s very own punk-rock and pop punk bands, it struck all our hearts like the piano G cord introduction to “Welcome To The Black Parade”. Taking place at the famous festival grounds of Burl’s Creek – famously known for their Boots & Hearts Festival which took place just 2 weeks prior – All Your Friends Festival designed the perfect Friday and Saturday to heal the hearts of the pop-punk kids who have grown up alongside the bands taking the stage. The only way to describe it would be 48 hours of pure nostalgia.

Punk in Drublic: NOFX’s Ode to Punk Rock
NOFX is an iconic American punk rock band that has significantly impacted the punk scene since its formation in 1983. The band was founded in Los Angeles, California, by vocalist and bassist Michael Burkett, better known as Fat Mike, and guitarist Eric Melvin. They were later joined by drummer Erik “Smelly” Sandin and guitarist Aaron “El Hefe” Abeyta, solidifying the lineup that would carry them through their careers.
Sammy Hager puts on a stellar show as the Red Rocker performed at Budweiser Stage in Toronto
It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a rock show of this caliber, Sammy Hagar brought some of his rock star friends to play with him on this “The Best of All Worlds Tour”. Old friend and Van Halen band mate Michael Anthony played the powerful bass and sang a Van Halen classic, Jason Bonham pounded the drums just like his father did in Led Zeppelin and rounding up the all-star group was guitar wizard Joe Satriani, who stands alone in instrumental guitar music.
TOTALLY TUBULAR FESTIVAL, A NOSTALGIC FLASHBACK TO THE 1980’S HITS
On Tuesday, July 23, Montrealer’s were transported back to the 1980s at the Totally Tubular Festival, held at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec. The event featured an extraordinary lineup of iconic bands. Despite the short sets from the eight bands, the crowd sang along passionately to the hits, making it a fun and nostalgic experience.
Let’s TALK about day 8 at Ottawa Bluesfest
Initially July 12 was supposed to be an off day for me due to prior engagements but schedules changed and suddenly I found myself back at LeBreton Flatts for another night at Ottawa Bluesfest.
Country music takes over Ottawa Bluesfest, again, on Thursday
After a few years with only one or two country acts in the lineup country music has been featured very prominently for the 30th Anniversary year. Thursday night shifted the focus to indie Canadian country on the back stages while rock was alive and well on the main stage.
