Pearl Jam strikes like lightning to near capacity crowd in Ottawa
It was late summer 1991, I remember the buzz surrounding this new alternative band that all my friends were talking about called Pearl Jam. I grew up in small town Northern Ontario and the only radio station in town, although multi-genre, would never play anything by a band like Pearl Jam so I took a leap of faith and bought their debut album…Ten. I was hooked, I loved everything about it. The sound, the lyrics…everything it was, at the time anyway, groundbreaking. On Sunday night Eddie Vedder, Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Dave Krusen took me and about 15,000 other fans on a trip down memory lane at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.

With the likes of red hot Meghan Patrick and a band that had by far one of the best performances of last years Boots and Hearts Festival with Blackjack Billy taking the headlining honours. For those of you that were part of that 30,000+ Kick off party you will know that the boys in BJB tore the roof off the Front Porch stage on that beautiful Thursday night.

Madeline Merlo released her debut album Free Soul, on Friday April 29th. Following her earlier EP release back in 2014, let me tell you, this girl put her heart and soul into this album. From her radio hit “Whatcha Wanna Do About It” and “Honey Jack” to some older hits such as “Sinking like a Stone” and “Alive”.

Canadian Music Week Must See Shows…
Over the last couple years I have been able to take in a few of the shows that happen during Canadian Music Week. This year is no different. We have plans to take in at least 8 or 9 of the shows happening over the 7 days in May (May 2-8) in various venues across Toronto. Lets start off with a little about CMW.
