I’ve always had a passion for discovering new artists and helping get their music heard. In the music industry today it’s very difficult for new artists to make their mark and get traction. Since founding Sound Check Entertainment we’ve prided ourselves in seeking out and promoting new artists. Just some of the artists we told you about first, and continue to promote, include Meghan Patrick, Abby Stewart, Cory Marquardt and Midnight Shine to name just a few. Today we’d like to introduce to you Morgan Leigh Garner and Courtney Dashe aka Hadley Park.

Award winning singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton brought his All American Road Show tour to the Canadian Tire Centre last night. It was there that Chris, alongside his wife and special guest Lindi Ortega were greeted by a packed house.

Last Friday, two of my favourite things about Canada came together in one venue, rock ‘n roll and hockey. Whether you’re a sports fan or not, there’s just something about hockey that bring all Canadians together. A collective sense of pride, if you will.

I had the pleasure of chatting with Joel Plaskett this week about “Solidarity”, his latest solo release, but this ones a little different, it’s with his father Bill Plaskett, and it is a wonderful musical tapestry that spans the generations.

The National Arts Centre is a really spectacular venue for a concert of any size and magnitude. Even more so when the musical artist on the stage is pouring their heart out and the audience is electric. That was just the case this past Friday night, as a capacity crowd of passionate Canadian music lovers arose from their seats and ignored the sitting room guidelines to celebrate the ever-evolving indie dream-rock sounds of Mother Mother.

I’ve never purchased membership in a fan club in my life but when it was announced that Eric Church was coming back to Ottawa and the best way to guarantee great seats was to become a member of his Church Choir fan club, that’s exactly what I did. On Friday night, the show we had been anticipating since that day in September, finally arrived and we would not be let down.

The always amazing Billy Talent brought the third last stop of the Canadian leg of their ‘Afraid of Heights’ –tour to the jam packed TD Place, and was set to play to an exceptionally  enthusiastic crowd.
