2018 FESTIVAL D’ÉTÉ DE QUÉBEC TO FEATURE THE WEEKND, NEIL YOUNG, LORDE, FOO FIGHTERS, CYNDI LAUPER, BECK AND MORE

After last week’s teaser which included Lamb of God, Dimmu Borgir, Cannibal Corpse, Steel Panther and Motionless In White, the organizers of Montebello Rockfest have released the much anticipated punk teaser today.

A founding member of two chart topping bands, CBC radio host, five decades of touring and experiencing some of the most fascinating times in Rock ‘n Roll, Randy Bachman is a master story teller and a renowned musical talent. There are few people in Canada, if not North America and much of the world that have not heard the likes of Taking Care of Business by Bachman-Turner Overdrive and American Woman by The Guess Who.

Veterans of metal descended upon Montreal at MTELUS on March 2, as Sabaton, Kreator, and CyHra provided fans with  energetic, entertaining, and ecstatic performances.

On November 15, 2017, Warped Tour fans were greeted with a sad blog post, entitled “All Things Must Come To An End,” followed by the man behind the event, Kevin Lyman, stating it would be the last official year of the Vans Warped Tour. After 24 years and more than 1700 bands, artists who have been propelled into stardom, and millions of fans coming out each year, its run will be over. But not before an amazing final year of shows, taking place this summer between June 21 and August 5, 38 pit stops in 46 days. Vans Warped Tour will land in Toronto for its only Canadian date on July 17^th, 2018. Veterans of the tour and those who were propelled into stardom from it will be giving back, as seen in the lineup below.

G3 is the brain child of guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani. Since its inception in 1996, Joe along with 2 other special guests have toured representing G3. This years line up is comprised of Phil Collen (Def Leppard) and John Petrucci (Dream Theater).

At 7:20 pm on Monday night 200 or so people waited patiently for opener Gabrielle Shonk to take the stage at MacEwen hall. Ten minutes later their patient was rewarded as the young band took the stage. Playing their own brand of eclectic indie folk. Like a jazz band forgot about diminished chords and got a distortion pedal. Gabrielle shows off her bilingualism as she performs her original number ‘Trop Tard’ in french as the band comes close to the end of it’s half hour set. Lucky to grab this spot opening for childhood idols Dashboard Confessional, and supporting her 2016 debut EP, Gabrielle plugs their first single called habit, about “dudes with bad habits”. While they’re not exactly the genre I  usually listen to, this song has definitely earned it’s place on my Spotify playlist. Powerful vocals pulling a cheer from the growing crowd, as avid music fans listened attentively to the soothing melodies of their closing number.

Sabaton & Kreator will co-headline what is sure to be a night of metal with epic proportions. Two bands that regularly play in front of 50,000 people at festivals in Europe, this evening of metal will be a treat at MTELUS in Montreal on March 2, 2018.
