Sunday was the last night of this year’s CityFolk Festival and it went out with a bang!
Concerts Return to London’s Western Fair
Last week concerts returned to the Western Fair in London Ontario and kicking off three nights of music at the Metroland Media Agriplex was Sarnia native Eric Ethridge and a rocking American duo in LOCASH who made sure to not only take in our favourite Canadian coffee chain by grabbing themselves a drink at Tim’s but also tried their hand at some skating. Chris and Preston kept the party rocking with their hits “I Know Somebody”, ” I Love This Life” and even a cover of “You Gonna Fly” which they wrote for Keith Urban to an enthusiastic crowd.
Saturday Night’s Alright at CityFolk
The weekend edition of CityFolk got underway on the great lawn at Lansdowne on an unseasonably balmy Saturday afternoon. First to hit the stages were locals and kind of locals Danielle Allard, Common Deer, Miss Emily, Twain, and Fred Penner’s G-rated show for the little ones.

Saturday couldn’t have been a better afternoon for Marvest, the free portion of CityFolk that brought several short performances to untraditional venues over the span of Bank St. The venues were all within walking distance of each other, and combined with the unusually warm September weather, it made for a magical musical adventure unlikely to be soon repeated.
CityFolk Night #3: Son Little, The Suitcase Junket, Amanda Marshall
The third night of Ottawa’s CityFolk festival did not disappoint, kicking off at 6pm while the sun was still shining on Lansdowne. It was a warm evening filled with surprises, from the beautifully cooperative September weather to the unanticipated talent demonstrated by the performers — particularly by Son Little, The Suitcase Junket, and Amanda Marshall.
Doing something for Childhood Cancer with Hadley Park
Back in March we introduced you to singer/songwriter duo Hadley Park out of Nashville, TN.
In our interview with Courtney and Morgan we were told of the story of Kaleb, Morgan’s nephew, who had just been diagnosed with cancer for the second time in his young life and allowed his mother to transcribe his feelings on a CaringBridge post. Morgan and Courtney read the blog post and knew that day that they needed to turn Kaleb’s words into a song with the sole purpose of trying to make him smile. With that the song “Things I’ve Learned” was born.
