So we introduced our Mason Jar Session last month with Autumn Hill performing an amazing rendition of their smash hit Blame. This time around the boys of Blackjack Billy recorded there current single Why God Made Summertime.  This was recorded on Thursday just before they hit the stage at Canada’s largest country music festival – Boots & Hearts.   Huge thanks to the boys for doing this!  Oh and we may just have one more to share with you to! As I write this day 2 of Boots and Hearts is well underway and 8 tensions are likely starting to grow between 8 emerging artists set to take to the Front Porch Stage Saturday afternoon all vying to be chosen for the coveted opening spot for Thomas Rhett on Sunday afternoon.  One of the top 8 is Winnipeg Manitoba’s Leanne Pearson.  In less then two years, Leanne has had one single hit Top 50, “Get Outta My Heart”, and one single hit Top 90, “The Only Thing”. Leanne shows that there are no limits to an Independent Canadian Country Girl. We had the chance to chat with her a few months back about her career to date and what it meant to be chosen for the top 8 at Boots and Hearts.

Day One of Manitoulin Country Fest is a wrap…perfect weather, a larger than ever crowd, great food vendors, and, oh yes what we came for, PHENOMENAL COUNTRY MUSIC!!!!! The one thing we don’t have is high speed internet connection in our motel. A photo journal by Anita Bell and our interview with Johnny Reid will be posted early next week.

Well, it’s just as the headline says it was.  Last night was one hell of Kickoff Party for Boots & Hearts at their new home in Oro-Medonte.

We had a chance to sit down with Maddie & Tae a couple weeks back when they made their Canadian debut at Gone Country in London, Ontario.  For those of you that made it to the show will know the girls know how to bring it.   Here is our interview with the fabulous Maddie & Tae.

It’s August in Eastern Ontario, all of the major summer festivals have wrapped up and that can only mean one thing.  Fair season is about to kick into high gear.  One of the first of the season is this weekend’s Navan Fair.  It may be one of the younger fairs in the region at 70 years young but that doesn’t mean they don’t know how to put on a party!

We’ve been having a lot of discussion about Boots and Hearts over the past few weeks but there’s another country music festival happening in Ontario this weekend and Sound Check’s Mary-Rae Knapp will be on-site all weekend along with Anita James Bell who will be helping us out on the photography side of things.  The festival is Manitoulin Country Fest and starting this Thursday it will play host to some of the biggest names in Canadian Country Music.

This past weekend, North Bay, Ontario was host to Summer In The Park. This has become a tradition in the city for several years. It features a midway, vendors, exhibits and live entertainment. As for me, this was my first time attending. The line-up was too good to miss!

Ok… With only days to go.  Literally 3 sleeps to be exact. I thought I would just give you my first two days and what I believe are the top NOT TO MISS artists.   As mentioned in my Kick Off Party post a couple of days back I am really looking forward to seeing Old Dominion for the first time.
