Thousands of patriotic Canadians braved the line-ups, the rain and mud, the street closures, and the porta-potties to celebrate our nation’s birthday Parliament Hill style. Those who finally made it through the security gates were not disappointed.
Charles Bradley Funks up the Ottawa Jazzfest
Bradley is an American funk/soul/R&B singer who was the subject of the documentary Soul of America that premiered at the South by Southwest festival in 2012. He was a James Brown impersonator since the age of 14 and then decided, in his sixties, that he was going to “do Charles Bradley instead”.

Country music rocked the stage at Cider Fest
River Town Saints, Kira Isabella and Gord Bamford played to a packed crowd during Cider Fest at Puddicombe Estate on Friday June 23rd.
River Town Saints kicked the show off with a bang, as usual! I’ve had the pleasure of seeing these guys quite a bit in the last few weeks so when I noticed that their were a lot of people sitting in their seats at the beginning of their set I knew it wouldn’t be long before they were all on their feet. Sure enough not even half way through the first song people flooded to the front of the stage.

The Ottawa weather hasn’t really been spoiling the Jazz Fest crowd this year, having had thunder, lightning and pouring rain almost every night, but even tonight some faithful festival goers brought out their lawn chairs and party hats and headed to the City Hall’s Tartan Home Stage and Confederation Park’s TekSavvy Main Stage for some live music.
