The saying goes “Time Heals all Wounds”. The organizers of the Capital Hoedown, which was cancelled in 2012 after 2 seasons, are hoping that holds true for them as they prepare to make a comeback in 2016.
Chances are if you were, at one point, registered to receive email updates from the Hoedown, before it’s demise, you would’ve recently received the following email earlier this week.
Hello,
Capital Hoedown is gearing up for a much anticipated return to the Ottawa region, and we need your feedback to help create the most amazing festival experience ever!
Details you should know: The festival will take place within 20 kilometers of the City of Ottawa, on a 400 acre festival site. Onsite camping facilities will be available for the entire duration of the festival. Capital Hoedown’s entertainment lineup will feature the biggest, best and most prolific names in country music.
By completing this survey, and upon official announcement of the festival, you will receive an exclusive ticket presale offer to purchase tickets in advance of the festival, at a special discounted price, and your name will be entered into a draw for a meet-and-greet with one of the festival’s headlining artists.
We would appreciate your feedback in our online survey. All responses will remain confidential and secure.
Thank you in advance for your valuable insights. We appreciate your trust and look forward to serving you in the future.
Thank You
Capital Hoedown Festival
The Hoedown has a strong significance to Sound Check, without it we would not exist today as it was the festival we were chosen to cover for the Ottawa Citizen way back in 2011. Seeing it make a comeback would be the biggest comeback story, likely in Canadian music history. We’ll be covering this story as it develops and should the Hoedown successfully rise from the ashes we will be there to cover the action.
But first we want to hear from you. We want to know, does time in fact heal all wounds?

I have not received the email as mentioned in Capital Hoedown post, my email address is the same. I attended Capital Hoedown in 2011 and had prepaid for 2012 in October of 2011 during the presale (I still have my tickets for both years). I wish there was another option in the poll as I don’t feel either fit. It would have been nice to not only receive the email but to have an apology (not the media statement) to acknowledge ownership of the debacle from 2012, each ticket holder should have that from Hoedown in addition to a significant discount if the Hoedown was to resurface. I had to fight hard to get my money returned despite the statement that a full refund would be honoured and issued via Capital Hoedown and to contact them directly, despite repeated emails and phone calls nothing worked. Thankfully my credit card company was able to process my claim and Boots and Hearts provided full event passes to those of us who were left hanging, it took several months before I received a refund through my credit card dispute (Fall of 2012). That was close to one full year since I prepaid for an event that was not cancelled due to Act of God, this was poor management on the Capital Hoedown time not the ticket holders, media or City of Ottawa, take some accountability for the situation placed upon the ticket holders. I loved Capital Hoedown and had hoped it would resurface. I have my reservation in taking another “risk” with the same guy (Benoit) who made no attempts to help us ticket holders, he ran away from his responsibility. I have attended Boots and Hearts each year since 2012 to acknowledge and pay back the risk they took in giving free tickets to those of us fending for ourselves from Capital Hoedown. Thank you Boots and Hearts!
