I was in Spain, in 1991 the first time I heard ‘Everything I do, I do it for you. I was taken aback by how an amazing song it was. I didn’t know who the singer was and when I was found out it was Bryan Adams, I had no clue who he was. None of my friend were into him however from the minute I found him i fell in love with his music.
I think I like him most of all because he sings songs that have, I don’t want to say universal lyrics but fascinating ones. You could just listen to Bryan Adams over and over and over again and never get tired.
Living in a small town in Spain, I never had the chance to see him live. I had to wait 28 years for that dream to come true.
I was in for a great evening and what amazing evening Bryan had in store for his fans. He played an incredible 33 songs from his incredible catalogue of music, including classics such as ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It for You’, ‘Summer of ’69’, ‘Please Forgive Me’ to tracks from his latest album Shine a Light such as ‘Shine a Light’ co-written with Ed Sheeran.
The stage was minimalistic with a video backdrop. At around 8:30 pm, Bryan Adams and his band hit the stage and launched into their 2 1/2 hour set. Adams sounded as good as ever. The band got into the groove and looked as if they were enjoying the evening as much as the crowd.
And the best part of the night was when Bryan Adams surprised all of us by taking requests from the fans. When was the last time you heard of an established star taking live request from their fans so they can hear their favourite songs live? I don’t know about you but me…never.
As I look back to that evening, I don’t think, there was anyone in that crowd who didn’t feel they were part of something special. It was a moment in time that will be well remembered after this summer of 2019.
