What a hot beautiful Friday… and the country music fans were ready for more after Niko Moon’s amazing kick off party Thursday night!
It’s so good to be back and have it feel like we didn’t skip a beat-seeing the smiling faces of thousands of country music fans was enough to get me in the mood for a cold beverage and some live music.
Friday was full of great performances including Don Amero, Kidd G, Morgan Evans, Dustin Lynch and many more.
My favourite performance of the day was Jason Blaine, he had the crowd running towards the main stage singing every word. I personally would have loved to see them put a great Canadian artist right before the headliner to really start pushing Canadian artists. (Maybe next year).
Another great highlight of the day for me was Mackenzie Porter, doing her own cover of “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles and broke out into a real cool fiddle solo.. I had no idea she played fiddle, it had me, along with the whole audience, watching and wanting more.
Now I know Sam Hunt was supposed to headline, but Jake Owen was a great fill in! He was the perfect way to end the night leaving everyone singing “Barefoot Blue Jean Night”. All and all, Friday was a great first day and I’m looking forward to seeing what Saturday will bring.

Editor’s note: For those of you unfamiliar with Brian John Harwood, he’s an emerging Canadian Country artist based in Barrie, Ontario. We thought it would be fun to get an artist’s take on the festivities at this year’s Boots and Hearts. You can find more about BJH at his official website here: https://www.brianjohnharwood.com/
