You would’ve thought it was a hot mid summer night with the energy at The Danforth Music Hall on Wednesday night. A sea of Daisy Dukes and plaid on the dance floor, people arrived ready to party country music style.
Opener Russell Dickerson kicked off the night with his tune Every Little Thing and had the crowd snapping along in no time. Backed by a guitarist, bassist and drummer, each member of the band had an overflow of energy which noticeably spilled out into the crowd. Saving the title track off of his EP released this year, Russell put on a hell of a show and then stole everyone’s girlfriend at the end with his power ballad, Yours.
The stage opened up to make room for the array of instruments and Billy Currington’s six member band. Right from the very first beats of his single Don’t It, Billy had the whole place feeling like it would be Summer Forever.

Backed not only by a talented and extremely tight band but also by a mesmerizing light show, it was nearly impossible to take your eyes off the stage, although I’m not sure why you would want to. With nine number ones and twelve top ten tunes, it quickly became a sing-a-long. Taking us all the way back to 2004 with I Got A Feelin’ and showing us how country boys roll, Billy and the band kept the energy hyped and the party going right until the very end.
