It’s been a while since the initial line up for Bestival Toronto was announced. Yesterday they added L.A.’s BANKS to the roster. BANKS, known for her dark, sultry sound is a welcome addition to the festival. Arriving on the music scene in 2013, she’s made quite a name for herself quickly. Influenced by Fiona Apple and Lauryn Hill her tone draws you in and keeps you riveted. She’s toured internationally with The Weeknd in 2013. Bestival curator ROB DA BANK came across her at a show in London and became a fan.
Born and raised in Orange County, Banks found her way into music after her parents divorced and her friend gave her a keyboard. She has a degree in psychology and is a little reluctant to use social media and feels it’s best left to the professionals.
