Wow! What a show. Canadian Electro-Pop artist Lights finally made her return to Edmonton after 4 years… and man… what a treat.

The excitement was beyond palpable. Everyone in attendance was vibrating with anticipation. I have not seen or felt such energy in quite some time, and I don’t think Midway was prepared for what was about to occur.

Touring for her most recent album “PEP”, Lights exploded onto the stage in a vivacious manner. Opening her set with her single, “Salt and Vinegar”, Midway was alive! Everyone was singing word for word back to her, almost at the same volume. In between songs, Lights said she was over the moon and extremely grateful for the warm welcome back to Edmonton. I have to note; her band was mixed incredibly well and they produced a very full sound. I was very impressed.

The second song of the night was “Siberia” and unlike Edmonton’s cold winters, Lights was on fire. Once again, everyone was singing along, cheering, and screaming back. “Up We Go” brought Midway to another level. Lights had the entire venue in the palm of her hand. Everyone was singing and dancing; even we photographers were in awe. This show was a fantastic way to start 2023! Lights is not an artist you want to miss. Opening for Lights was drag queen star Tynomi Banks. She has competed on the first season of Canada’s Drag Race. What an opener! She was dancing, singing, and interacting with the crowd – making people laugh and calling on people. She is the first drag queen to open for a Canadian artist – as told by Tynomi herself. Check out www.tynomibanks.com to see when she is coming to a city near you.
