Rock-n-roll supergroups started forming in the late 60’s and early 70’s with bands such as Cream, Blind Faith and Bad Company. Anytime successful musicians join forces to form their own band you’re pretty much guaranteed something special. Fast forward to the present and supergroups are still a big deal. For example, there’s the Foo Fighters, A Perfect Circle and Down, to name a few, and of course, the amazing Last In Line!
Last In Line’s current line-up consists of Vivian Campbell (Guitars, Dio, Def Leppard), Vinny Appice (Drums, Dio, Black Sabbath), Phil Soussan (Bass, Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol and more), Andrew Freeman (Vocals, The Offspring, Lynch Mob). These guys really put on a tight show at The Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio this past weekend, killing it with Dio classics and tunes off their own Heavy Crown and II albums.
What is really cool about these heavy metal pros is that they have local talent open the shows here in Columbus. Credit should also be given to Knight Wolf Concert Productions of course for bringing Last In Line to the venue for a second year in a row. The 4 bands that received this year’s coveted opening slots were:
XFACTOR1, who tore through their set at a dizzying pace, melting the masks off the faces in the front row. I hope the guy who was dressed as a scarecrow didn’t get too close for obvious reasons!
Corrosive Vengence, are an 100% homegrown metal crew who believe in “keeping Metal Alive 1 Day at a Time, Horns Up High Till We Die!!!”
Waragon are just straight up outlaw rockers on the local scene and always ready to party!
Managed Chaos blasted the crowd with a heavy dose of rock to start the Halloween shenanigans.
It was a great night for metal and rock fans in Columbus, Ohio! Hope Knight Wolf can bring Last In Line back again next year and make it a tradition for sure.
