Our next feature artist is hoping to go full circle. Dylan Burk was born in Tennessee and now calls Milton, Ontario home. Winning the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase would bring Dylan back to where he started.
Dylan is currently promoting his debut single “Looking Like That”, has already shared the stage with the James Barker Band and others and now he’s looking to take the next step in his career.
We caught up with Dylan and asked him the following questions to give you the chance to get to know him a little better.
#1: Hundreds, if not thousands, of musicians submit for their chance to make the top 8 in this annual showcase. You are facing off against 7 of your peers for a chance at the title of 2019 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist of the Year a title shared with artists like Tebey, The Reklaws, James Barker Band and Jade Eagleson to name a few. What made you apply for this opportunity?
I had heard about the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase years ago and knew that it was a path I wanted to take. Its produced so many amazing artists I would love to be one of those.
#2: Every artist I’ve spoken to has a story about how / when they decided to pursue music as a career. Describe the moment that you knew that music was the path for you.
The first concert I ever saw was Brad Paisley, I remember seeing his tour bus and knowing all of those people were there to see him. Watching the show live, from that point I knew that’s what I wanted to do.
#3: What’s your all-time favourite movie?
Walking Tall. The original ones…Not the remakes!
#4: Your ideal brain food?
Coffee that’s the way my brain starts working in the morning

#5: If you could see any artist in concert, who would you see (living or dead)?
Randy Travis, as a kid I listened to him all the time. He’s one of my all time favourites
#6: Name a fictional character most like you?
Ricky Bobby because I like to go fast lol
#7: If you were a superhero what would be your superhero name?
Flames….I always thought that would be a cool superpower and the human torch is already taken.
#8: Who are your musical influences that inspired you to follow in their path? What artists today, if any, inspire you to continue down that path?
Darius Rucker and Chase Rice have always been my favourites and big influences on my music.
#9: You’re going on a world tour as a headliner, who would you pick to open your tour for you each night?
Jerry Lee Lewis he still kills it
#10: Tell us why you should be crowned the 2019 Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase winner?
I grew up with country music , listening to it my whole life . I really feel it’s just part of who I am. I think my life long love of it has helped develop my style, I feel like its unique. This is what I want to do with my life and this is a chance I’ve been waiting my whole life for.
