Back for its 11th year, the Cavendish Beach Music Festival is Atlantic Canada’s largest multi day outdoor music festival! This years festival is shaping up to be one of the best ever! With acts like High Valley, Chad Brownlee, Carrie Underwood and Eric Chruch taking the stage this weekend, it is sure to be an action packed weekend full of sun and country music! Check out our recap below of all the main stage performances from day one of the festival!
Ben Chase
How does CBMF 2019 start the main stage on Friday, July 5th? The answer is with PEI native, Ben Chase. What a talent. He was high energy and the fans loved him. He released his first single in 2019, “All Over It”, and it reached #1 on the Canadian iTunes charts. You can tell by his stage presence that he simply loves to perform and he kept the crowd wanting more. He performed, “Already Winning” and, by this performance, I totally agree that he is “already winning”. We will be seeing more of Ben Chase.
Larry Berrio
“No Guts No Glory” is a 2014 song from Larry Berrio about extreme sports and giving it your all. Larry Berrio , a Canadian country artist, hit the stage and that is exactly what he did- he gave it his all. His rugged country rock style left the crowd wanting more. “No Fear No Worries” , we believe you will see more of Larry Berrio in the near future.
Mackenzie Porter
The third entertainer of the day quickly grabbed your attention. MacKenzie Porter is a talented actress and has numerous TV and movie productions behind her, but today she is sharing her other amazing talent — her voice. Then to top it all off she picks up the violin and wowed the fans again. She performed all her hits. She interacted with the fans telling them how she had taken some time off from her musical career and was nervous if she would be accepted back. Her come back single “About You” went #1 on Canadian country. She is back and taking the Canadian country music by storm.
Frankie Ballard
Listening to the crowd screaming as Frankie Ballard made it to the front of the stage, you knew it was going to be a “Hold on For The Ride” kind of performance. The crowd was anticipating some of their favourite songs and he did not let them down. “It All Started with a Beer” and “Sunshine & Whiskey” had the fans screaming out the lyrics and waiting for the next hit to do it all over again. The only thing that Frankie Ballard left on the stage was the fans wanting more.
High Valley
It is always great to have High Valley back at CBMF but for the few people that have never seen them perform, they were in for a wicked performance. The Canadian brothers, Brad and Curtis Renpel, have been producing hit after hit. Over the last couple years the brothers have been seeing much success south of the border with their hits “She’s With Me” and “Make You Mine”. More recently they have released their first single from their upcoming album “Single Man” which details the encounters of a single man, who just wants to settle down. While this single has only been released for a few weeks, it is already charting in Canada and the US.
Hunter Hayes
The first night of CBMF was headlined by none other than Hunter Hayes, Hunter was born in 1991 and started his musical career at the age of 2. When he turned 4 years old he began making television appearances and at age 7 performed for the President of the United States, Bill Clinton.
Hayes has a very early start in the music industry and never looked back. His career skyrocketed with the release of his debut single “Storm Warning” in 2011 and has been full steam ahead every since. Hunter is a 5 time Grammy nominee, and just released his new single “Heart Break”
Taking the stage to a packed house in Cavendish, Hayes proclaimed his appreciation at how many people there were in the audience to watch him perform. During his performance be performed some of his original songs like “Storm Warning”, “I Want Crazy” and “Somebody’s Heartbreak” but also treated the crowd to some newer stuff like “One Shot” and “Heartbreak”. Through Hunter’s performance his humility was every present when he thanked his fellow artists who has performed before, and the fans for coming out and watching him perform.
These are only a few of the acts that performed on the first day of the festival, in total there were over 20 acts performing on stages all over the venue!
