If you love classic rock then you’ll want to make sure you have your tickets to the 2019 Kemptville Live Music Festival because this years lineup delivers some of the best classic rock money can buy.
American Rock Legend George Thorogood and the Destroyers will headline the 2019 Kemptville Live Music Festival Saturday July 20, 2019.
Since 1975, they’ve sold over 15 million albums, built a classic catalog of hits, and played more than 8,000 ferocious live shows. They broke records with their 50 Dates/50 States tour, delivered landmark performances at Live Aid and on SNL, and became mainstays of radio, MTV and stages worldwide for more than two generations. Through it all, they’ve remained one of the most consistent – and consistently passionate – progenitors of blues-based rock in pop culture history.
Thursday July 18, opening night, will see veteran rockers Kim Mitchell and David Wilcox take to the stage as co-headliners. Mitchell was scheduled to perform last summer but had to cancel last minute due to health concerns.
Already announced Steve Earle and the Dukes are slated to headline Friday night at the festival.
Sunday night’s headliners, April Wine, rocked TD Place last year as part of the Grey Cup Festival and are no strangers to the stage having performed across Canada and around the world since their inception in 1969. Best known for their international top 40 hit ‘Just Between You And Me’, an iconic power ballad that made them the very first Canadian band on MTV, April Wine went on to release over twenty albums and have received a combined total of 11 Juno Award nominations in the Group Of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Selling Single categories.
Joining April Wine on Sunday night will be another Canadian powerhouse, Chilliwack. Chilliwack released 12 albums over a 15 year period producing numerous Canadian and international hits including “Lonesome Mary”, “Crazy Talk”, “Fly At Night”, “California Girl” & “Arms of Mary” in the 70’s; and “My Girl (gone gone gone)”, “I Believe”, & “Whatcha Gonna Do” in the 80’s. All this work led to fifteen gold and platinum certifications, a host of awards, high profile TV appearances and coliseum concert tours. Chilliwack’s reputation for consistently powerful shows continue Bill Henderson and the band are rocking like never before. Hearing the revitalized Chilliwack of today is like hearing those songs for the first time… all over again.
Joining April Wine and Chilliwack on Sunday night are, one of Canada’s most decorated rock acts. Calgary’s own, The Stampeders. Hailing from Calgary Alberta, the Stampeders went on to become a household name between 1971 and 1976, with four songs reaching Top-30 in the U.S and ten Top-5 singles in Canada. They recorded nine albums, many achieving gold and platinum status. SWEET CITY WOMAN has since become a classic and a standard in the world of pop music. In a recent poll, it was voted one of the Top-10 most-recognizable songs of the 70’s.
