As the sun started to set, the black curtain was pulled down and the boys were back, less than 2 years away from their last Bluesfest, Boston’s Dropkick Murphys hit the stage. They brought a whole lot of energy, just guessing, but the next few days may not have the same energy or security at the front of the stage for that matter.
The next couple of acts getting CityFolk started where some local talents The Acorn and The Rambling Valley Band. The new BMO stage got started with Kingston band Lost Cousin. What a great stage, very reminiscent of the Barney Danson Room at the War Museum. A black curtain area in the Aberdeen Pavilion separates the concerts from everything around them, including a great set up get your craft beer card loaded up and try a bunch of local brews (Dominion City, Brewery, Waller Street , Beau’s and a bunch of others.) A very cool set up, it will get some serious use if we get that rain on the weekend.
So far day 1 is down, but the new set up! Great changes CityFolk crew.
Next up 3x nominated Grammy artist with his first show in Ottawa, on his new tour in Canada all the way from England, James Bay. Totally awesome, not what I was expecting. Check his big track out ‘Let it Go’ , and join the other 117,000,000+ that have check it out.
Make sure you head down and check out MARVEST that gets started tonight at some great local spots to check out music in places you wouldn’t normally go to . Get out on Bank St, with this beautiful weather and see what ya find. #supportlocal
I could recommend places to start for Marvest but tonight starting at 9 there is so much talent getting started you couldn’t go wrong.
