The vibe on the night of May 25th was felt all the way out in the rain soaked line cueing up outside of Nashville’s live music venue, The Basement.
Fans and friends alike waited with crossed fingers hoping to be 1 of 150 people to make it into the free concert put on by hometown favourites, The Cadillac Three. Luckily, we happened to be in Nashville when the boys announced the impromptu performance the day before and after seeing the show, we’re applauding ourselves for not missing it.
A long awaited announcement of their new album ‘Bury Me In My Boots’, which is being released on August 5th via Big Machine Records, was the motivation behind the local event. Revealing the cover of the upcoming album, as well as performing tracks from the record, the band repeatedly expressed their gratitude towards the fans both packed into The Basement, and those watching live on Facebook.

Lead singer Jaren Johnston described the new record as “14 songs of badass shit” and after hearing them play the title track, we couldn’t agree more. Though the new songs were the main focus, TC3 gave the crowd some older favourites such as The South, Peace Love & Dixie and Tennessee Mojo. Their performance of White Lightning sparked a crowd sing-a-long that left huge smiles on each of the band members faces.
The band, which is comprised of Jaren (lead vocals), Neil Mason (percussion) and Kelby Ray (lap steel), has a great balance of hard southern rock and true southern kindness which is noticeable both during the performances and during the intermittent stage banter. They admittedly feel extremely grateful to be, as Jaren put it, “doing what Nashville let’s you do – which is make music”. We hope that TC3 continues to make music until their fingers just can’t take anymore.
The Cadillac Three will be back in Canada September 1st with Florida Georgia Line at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto. They have a busy summer ahead and will continue to add to their already large and loyal fanbase. Look for their intoxicating new tune Drunk Like You on Spotify or iTunes.
