With September fast approaching and although the country is slowly reopening the harsh reality is the pandemic is still here and large gatherings of crowds won’t be possible for the foreseeable future. It’s with that in mind that yesterday’s announcement by the Canadian Country Music Association sent the following announcement to it’s membership. The CCMA team and our board of directors are thrilled to be able to share the details of the 2020 CCMA Awards presented by TD and Country Music Week 2020. Though we have seen some restrictions start to lift across the country, large gatherings continue to be prohibited and the health and safety of the fans, the artist and our partners remains our top priority. So, with this reality in front of us, the 2020 CCMA Awards presented by TD and Country Music Week 2020 have been re-imagined.
Airing September 27 at 9 p.m. on Global in partnership with TD, Country Music’s biggest celebration will be broadcast from two locations, Nashville, Tennessee and rural Ontario and will honour and showcase the biggest names in Canadian country music. It will feature performances, collaborations and some heartfelt surprise moments. This year’s Awards will be a musical love letter; uniting fans and an entire nation. With a backdrop of rolling hills and wide-open spaces, we are bringing country music back to the country for this incredibly special show. Nominees for the 2020 event will be announced on July 22.
Today we also wanted to let you know that Country Music Week 2020 is going digital. We will have an action-packed weekend leading into the broadcast with seminars, CCMA Songwriters’ Series and industry awards, all delivered to your home digitally. Details surrounding Country Music Week 2020 programming will be available in the coming weeks.
Although we won’t be able to gather for the Country Music Week 2020 in Hamilton this fall, we are working with our valued partners at the City of Hamilton and Tourism Hamilton to schedule our return. We cannot thank this group enough for linking arms with our staff and our board to work through the challenges that we have been faced with due to Covid-19.
To note: Members who have already booked hotel stays for Country Music Week 2020 will be hearing directly from their hotel of choice regarding their reservations via an automated cancellation confirmation email. If you made a reservation and have not received one, please contact the hotel directly to confirm your cancellation. Those who made a prepaid deposit toward their stay will be refunded.
This year, more than ever, we are going to take the CCMA Awards presented by TD show and country music back to our roots. Our genre has an innate ability to bring our community together and we look forward to uniting.
