Happy Green Acres is a campground and special events venue located near Brockville Ontario in the heart of the 1000 Islands. In the summer of 2018 the venue played host to 3 popular festivals and for 2019 the festivals have grown to 5.
Festival season at Happy Green Acres kicks off on May 30 with the Green Acres Bluegrass Jamboree. Three nights of some of the best bluegrass you’ll ever find and featuring a special performance by New England’s own Grace Gilbert. Grace Gilbert was born and raised in North Yarmouth, Maine. Growing up singing and playing folk music with her father, she quickly fell in love with the sounds of traditional American music which led her to the world of Bluegrass. Starting on guitar at age ten and mandolin soon after, Grace was inspired by female powerhouse bluegrass groups such as Della Mae and the New Coon Creek Girls, in addition to the country style of Hank Williams Sr. and Patsy Cline. She received a double Bachelors degree in Bluegrass Music and History from Denison University in Granville, Ohio where she earned a spot in the top ensemble, opening for Ricky Skaggs in 2015 and performing in the IBMA Student Showcase. Grace is now based out of Portland, Maine and has taken on the role of vocalist and bassist for Dreamcatcher. Dreamcatcher will take to the stage on Sunday night at 9pm. Joining Ambush is one of the hottest rising country artists out of the Kingston area, Abby Stewart. Abby may be young, but she has accomplished so much in such a short period. From sharing the stage for a duet with Hunter Hayes, Dan + Shay, Dean Brody, Dallas Smith or Aaron Pritchett or opening for Hunter on his Canadian tour dates or completing a set at some of Canada’s biggest music festivals, her star is on the rise. Her versatility and passion for music shines through whether she’s belting out one of her radio friendly originals, a Taylor Swift or Band Perry lyric or turns back the clock to a Dolly Parton, Anne Murray or Buck Owens classic. The summer of 2019 is a special anniversary for one of the biggest and most famous music festivals of all time, Woodstock. 50 years ago the greatest artists of all time all came together on one stage and this summer 50 years later you can be part of 1969 Rewind: A Woodstock Tribute Festival at Happy Green Acres. The event will feature Amanda Keely Band who will perform a mix of covers to pay tribute to the artists involved with the original Woodstock Festival. Artists such as; Melanie Safka, CSNY and other covers popular from the Woodstock Era by artists like Joni Mitchell & more. The event will also feature performances by The Valley Shantyman, Strange Brew: Cream Tribute, CCR Reborn: CCR Tribute, China Cat Riders: The Grateful Dead Tribute, The Neil Young’uns and more.
