It’s that time of year again, some of Ottawa’s biggest summer events are announcing their 2016 lineups. First out of the gate is the 23rd Annual Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival who, this morning, announced their incredible lineup of entertainment on the Hillside Amphitheatre stage.
Headliners for the four-day festival are July Talk (23rd), Mother Mother (24th), Alvvays (25th), A Tribe Called Red (26th).
The best part? Admission is FREE for all the performances. The festival’s Artistic Director Antony Cooper has been committed to presenting high-profile Canadian artists over the past several years, creating a line-up that makes the Tim Hortons Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival a musical powerhouse of its own. “We love to support the amazing talent that Canada has, and are looking forward to some spectacular concerts!,” he says.
Every year the festival is attended by over 75,000 visitors who come to see 200 dragon boat teams compete across community, corporate, competitive divisions, making it the largest dragon boat festival in North America. Many teams contribute fundraising efforts to raise money for charities supported by the Ottawa Dragon Boat Foundation. Festival CEO John Brooman says, “We hope everyone can come down to the festival, not only to cheer on the competitors, but also to enjoy the food, beverages, shopping and entertainment that makes the festival such a special experience.”
